Sequela Christi

Just yesterday, an uprising happened in Makati City, Philippines, where personalities charged for rebellion (there are many versions of what they actually did) walked out of a court proceeding, and going to a luxury hotel nearby. (Are they really makamasa, why the propensity to 'raid' luxury hotels?) A number of their guards followed their leaders, who not only disrespected the president but the entire people as well. They pointed to numerous complaints against the government as if they know everything. While they were conducting a press conference, I just thought to myself--what have they done to their followers? I pity the followers because they are putting their trust is such stupid men.

Where can we find the leader who does not disappoint? Through God's grace we know that such a person exists--Jesus. He doesn't disappoint and he doesn't leave his followers to ruin. Folks, we can trust Christ and there's not malice or unseen agenda in him. I'm presently reading Veritatis Splendor, encyclical written by the late John Paul the Great 14 years ago (might be better now to read it). The following of Christ (L. sequela Christi) is both easy and hard. It's easy because God provides the help and grace for the endeavor, and hard because it's really a cultural counterflow... really a radical change in outlook. It's really hard looking through the world's scope. We can't boast about ourselves because it's not we who are the power behind this 'following' but Christ himself. It's not a one-time event, it's lifelong; it's not a sprint, it's a marathon. We fall, but we rise again. It's a constant decision to follow, against the current...

We are citizens of another world, much better than here...
