Stampede!

If you watch CNN or BBC, the Philippines is again hugging the headlines (second only to the ferry disaster in the Red sea where at least 100 died). At least 79 people died when a stampede broke out outside the ULTRA stadium in Pasig City! All government and private entities are now helping the victims of this senseless tragedy. And you know what adds fuel to the fire? The comments of some personalities! They blame the government for not providing a livelihood for these poor people. They claim they died because they're poor (see related blog below). Being poor does not justify a tragedy such as this! You can be poor and at the same time remain alive. I'm just a little disappointed with these commentators.

When there is a gathering of a crowd in the thousands, a security plan should be in place. In Mecca as few weeks ago, hundreds of people died in a similar fashion. This disaster should not be repeated in the future.
