Imagine

What the Muslims are doing these days, all these violence... burning of buildings, and all things hateful speaks ill of them. While insulting their religion is very bad, against the commandment of loving our neighbor, their reaction is not called for. Common sense tells us that the government of Denmark, e.g., does not control their media... why punish them? They're barking the wrong tree. They should condemn the person who insulted them, but use the court or justice system. Violence and revenge is not the answer! Even the nearby Church was not spared (Beirut). "From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and men of violence take it by force" (Mt 11.12). People who have no faith are put off from religion. It is here that John Lennon's song Imagine takes significance... (though it seems to be negative, the context is the message)

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us
Above us only sky.
Imagine all the people
Livin' for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do,
Nothin' to kill of die for
And no religion, too.
Imagine all the people
Livin' life in peace...

Refrain:
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one.
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be (live) as one.

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man.
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world... (ref.)
Give peace a chance!
