What is the secret to a happy life? Sometimes we move about like busy bodies, as if doing something, seemingly confused as to where we are going. This is the natural way of those who insist that we are here on this planet by chance alone, that everything is all that we can see or hear or feel, etc. The happiest people on earth are those who have no material possessions! Of course the source of this happiness is something spiritual, or abstract to the ordinary person. Happiness is in the little things!
Children are happy because they trust their parents and yayas, not thinking of what to eat or drink. If we trust God, then we'll be happy. Matthew 6.26 (RSV) says "Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?"
Let's be like children, and begin to trust God in the little things of our lives. Have a solemn Holy Week!
