Rulers And Authorities

The present crisis in Philippine politics, if it can be considered a crisis, is really a crisis of character. As long as only civilians are involved, no problem is foreseen; but when the armed groups join the rallies, that is another matter. As I mentioned in a previous blog, if a soldier wishes to joint politics, he should resign first. In 2003, some soldiers involved in a mutiny (Oakwood) said that they were protesting the corruption of certain officers who sell bullets and other ammunition to the communist rebels. How come they are joining the NPA now in undermining the state? This outlawed organization is bent on destroying our democratic way of life. Are they willing to kill fellow soldiers? If they are so frustrated, why not resign? I'm enjoining the readers to think deeper and see the bigger picture. Bringing down this government will only benefit all these anti-democratic forces, now utterly discredited globally. I think North Korea (and perhaps Cuba) remains as the only communist state on earth. Our communists here are out of date! Some Catholic priests unknowingly are helping them; Christianity is not an ideology, it is something more sublime. It not only concerns the body, but the soul...

The people must support the government authorities. St. Paul said to Titus (3.1 RSV), "Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for any honest work." At that time, the ruling authority was the Roman Empire.
